CA final: Pune girl ranks third in country

A total of 42,533 appeared for the final exams in both groups, of whom only 3,100 students passed.

The youngest age to become a Chartered Accountant (CA) is 21. And at 21, Harsha Bhattad from Pune has got third rank (all-India) in the final CA exams, the results of which were announced on Friday. She is the topper among women candidates, having scored 574 marks out of 800.

“The feeling is yet to sink in. I believed I would pass but getting third rank is unbelievable,” said Harsha who also secured 10th and 23rd ranks respectively in exams she took earlier. “I used to study for 10-12 hours daily from January till the exam day in May. My hard work has paid off,” added Harsha.

A first year student of MA in Economics from Pune university, Harsha passed class XII from BMCC College, and graduated in Arts from Fergusson College. “My dad owns a grocery shop in the city, my mother is a housewife and my sister is a CA,” said Harsha.

Although she has multiple job offers, Harsha is undecided on what to do next. “I want to do MBA after MA. But then I also want to become a teacher. I am totally confused as to what to do in the immediate future,” said Harsha. Her long-term plan is to become a business correspondent with an established newspaper. “Now that I have a good business background, I want to do investigative stories in business” added Harsha.
