Mapusa: Illegal constructions demolished in 2009 for Coastal Regulations Zone (CRZ) violations are resurfacing in Anjuna with ?political blessings'. The Anjuna panchayat has maintained that the flourishing illegal constructions in Anjuna is earning a bad name for the panchayat with the directorate of panchayats and other authorities concerned blatantly giving stay orders on the demolition without the study of proper documentation.
Jyoti Naik of Praise Vaddo in Anjuna has complained to various authorities including the CRZ authority, town and country planning department, as well as the chief minister's office against Sandeep Chimulkar and Prasad Chimulkar for carrying out illegal constructions and erecting concrete pillars within the CRZ and no development zone (NDZ).

After the receipt of the complaint alleging illegal constructions which were previously demolished by the panchayat with the requisition of the demolition squad, the office of the Anjuna panchayat had issued a notice directing the Chimulkars to stop further constructions immediately and produce documents. The panchayat body also carried out an inspection of the site on Tuesday.
"These illegal constructions are used to organize raves and the panchayat is trying to stop the illegality but the directorate of panchayats is issuing stay orders on the demolition without studying the proper documentation," Anjuna deputy sarpanch Savio Almeida said.
The complainant alleges that the ongoing construction is for a night club and was demolished in 2009 for various illegalities. "Many complaints have been filed but no action has been taken as the alleged accused uses political power to suppress authorities from taking any action," Almeida said.
