This App By Action Movie Kid Could Sell A Lot Of Apple iPhones

This article is more than 9 years old.

There is a DreamWorks Animator named Daniel “Hashi” Hashimoto who creates way cool videos of his kid doing action movie stunts and other fun videos titled "Action Movie Kid" using Adobe After Effects. One of the amazing aspects is that his son reacts as if they actually happened. They range from playing with a Toy Lightsaber, to disappearing into a pool of water or jumping over lava in the living room.

Hashi posted a YouTube video on June 17 that has over 125,000 views titled “How to Find Your Kid at Target”. It's too bad that it isn’t a real app as almost any parent would like to have it to find their kid when he or she decides to go off on their own. It would make almost anyone who has a feature mobile phone upgrade to an Apple iPhone or Android smartphone. Yes, there would be a lot of privacy concerns about an app like this but who hasn’t wanted to have X-ray vision.

While one would have to make a lot of assumptions on how many iPhones or iPads Apple would sell due to any one app since it sold over 35 million iPhones in the June quarter this type of app could convince a number of people to upgrade.

Or if the iPhone 6 had this capability along with a larger screen it would help silence a lot of Apple critics about new functionality. Unfortunately I think X-ray vision only currently exists with animators.

Apple does have some cool apps

Apple has over 1.2 million apps in the App Store, which have been downloaded over 75 billion times. Tim Cook also announced at its Worldwide Developers Conference that there were now 9 million registered developers.

Apple has a series of commercials that portray a number of apps in various industries and settings.  From its latest “Powerful” series of videos it shows the iPhone as a wind meter, real-time language translator, a tool for emergency responders and a veterinary ECG monitor.
