Popular Marathi film actor Sanjay Khapre is joining hands with Ashok Pushpa Natya Sanstha in order to train young talents in the city to become successful theatre actors. He will be conducting free theatre workshops of children across various age groups in Navi Mumbai in order to hone their acting skills.
The workshops will include and teach every aspect of theatre to these children — right from acting to voice modulation, and from costumes to lights.These workshops will also teach the children on how stage differs from acting in movies.
In fact, it will also create an awareness about theatre in Navi Mumbai.
Sanjay Khapre is a popular face in Marathi cinema, and has been a part of some of the most notable movies in the recent past. He has played significant roles in several Marathi films and has been appreciated for his acting prowess. Khapre came to Navi Mumbai to promote his new Marathi play Kalat Nakalat and develop Marathi theatre in the city. “Navi Mumbai is a pool of talent when it comes to theatre. The city has several stage actors, who are well-trained in every aspect of theatre, and have gone places with their skills. However, the lack of audience support and awareness has led to an apathy. Marathi theatre has great potential in Navi Mumbai and I plan to work in developing and channelising more talent in Marathi theatre. I will also be ideating on various ways of promoting it to the a larger segment of audiences,” says Khapre.
About Kalat Nakalat The play revolves around a differently-abled boy, who is shown to be Sanjay Khapre’s brother. The play talks about the skills that these children possess and ways to develop them. This emotional as well as comic play describes the various facets of a special child’s life and talks about various issues that he faces. In fact, the play also educates the audience on ETC centres and special schools that help these children to come up and lead a normal life.
