The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) is looking at revising its incubation programme and plans to have more domain-specific facilities.

With the Centre announcing the setting up of Rs. 10,000-crore fund for start-ups and the Digital India initiative, the STPI is looking at revising its incubation programme, its director-general Omkar Rai told reporters here on Thursday.

He said the STPI already had 53 centres nationwide and offered plug-and-play facilities for small-scale companies and start-ups. While it would continue to support the existing units, there would be more idea-based, IT, ITES and electronic system design and manufacturing units.

“We will roll out an electronic system incubation facility in association with the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, India Electronics and Semiconductor Association, and Delhi University,” Mr. Rai said.

This pilot project would be launched this year, probably on the Delhi University campus. The STPI would also look at more domain-specific incubation facilities to meet the IT needs of the local industries. A STPI portal would be launched this year, and all services would be available online, he said.
