Aravind moves into sole lead

Top seed Aravind Chithambaram moved into the sole lead at the end of the fifth round of the National sub-junior chess championship here on Thursday. He had five points, following his victory over Anirudh Aiyengar. With six rounds remaining, he was half-a-point ahead of Harsha Bharathakoti and N.R. Visakh, seeded third and second respectively.

R. Vaishali is leading the girls’ event, also with five full points, after her fifth-round win against Harshita Guddanti. Fifth seed Tarini Goyal and third seed Riya Savant are in the joint-second position with 4.5 points each.
