Cinestaan Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. has announced a three film deal with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ROMP Pictures. The films will be co-produced under Mehra’s banner and Cinestaan Film Company, a subsidiary of the parent company. Rohit Khattar is the founder and chairman of Cinestaan while Anand Mahindra holds a major stake in the enterprise.
The first film that will release will be Mehra’s Mirziya, inspired by the folklore of Mirza Sahiban. The second film, Fanney Khan is an official remake of an Oscar nominated film that will be helmed by Filmistaan director Nitin Kakkar. When asked about the project, Kakkar refused to divulge any information, stating that he is currently working on the script. “Nothing has been finalised as yet and it is too early to comment.” The third project, yet untitled will be directed by Mehra. Talking about their collaboration, Khattar stated, “Cinestaan is committed to preserving the rich legacy of our cinema heritage. We are working on several initiatives including a history television project that shall celebrate the memories and contributions of our screen legends.”
