Mugdha, Pallavi, Vaishnavi advance in All India junior ranking badminton

Nagpur shuttlers had a mixed success in the All India Junior Ranking Badminton tournament at Dehradun on Thursday.

NAGPUR: Nagpur shuttlers had a mixed success in the All India Junior Ranking Badminton tournament at Dehradun on Thursday.
Mugdha Agrey, Pallavi Pitale and Vaishnavi Bhale enterd the second round in their respective singles.
Sixteenth seed Mugdha thumped Hema Dhruthi in straight games in the U-17 girls singles first round. In the second round, Mugdha, who also advanced to the U-19 girls singles second round, will face Unnati Bisht.

Pallavi, who ousted Poorvi Singh in three games, will take on tenth seed Anshu Sharma in the second round on Friday.
However, the sixth seeded pair of Mugdha and Pallavi was upset in three games by Priyanka Kumawat and Anshu Sharma.
Vaishnavi, seeded 16th, trounced Shivani Santosh Singh in the U-19 girls singles opener. The duo of Vaishnavi and Mrunmayi also won their doubles first round.

U-17 girls singles: 16-Mugdha Agrey bt A Hema Dhruthi 21-16, 21-11; Pallavi Pitale bt Poorvi Singh 21-19, 19-21, 21-13.
U-19 girls singles:
Mugdha Agrey bt P Sonika Sai 21-7 (conceded)
16-Vaishnavi Bhale bt Shivani Santosh Singh 21-10, 21-12; Mrunmayi Saoji lost to 15-Anura Prabhudesai.
U-17 girls doubles: 6-Mugdha Agrey-Pallavi Pitale lost to Priyanka Kumawat-Anshu Sharma 16-21, 21-15, 15-21.
U-19 girls doubles: Mugdha Agrey-Pallavi Pitale lost to 4-Vaishnavi Iyer-JK Malavika 7-21, 6-21; Vaishnavi Bhale-Mrunmayi Saoji bt Akshita Bhandari-Khushi Rai 21-12, 21-14.
