Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - Udayana Military Command IX Chief Major General Wisnu Bawa Tenaya and Denpasar City Mayor Ida Bagus Rai Darma Wijaya Mantra on Thursday jointly opened the "Rare Bali Festival," aimed at reviving cultural traditions for children.

"Let us develop the Bali culture so that it will be preserved and prepare children to become smart future leaders," Wisnu said upon launching the festival.

He noted that the festival would create momentum for children to observe and preserve the nations cultural heritage.

Meanwhile, the Denpasar city mayor stated in his address that the festival, which focused on local culture, was expected to provide solutions to challenges faced by the nation in the globalized era.

Ida pointed out that globalization had influenced children of all ages, particularly the younger generation.

"We hope this festival will be able to provide solutions to global challenges and build character in children, while they are still young," he added.

The festival also presented a childrens traditional arts performance at the Puri Agung Arts Gallery, as well as a childrens painting contest and flower arrangement event.
