SHAH ALAM: Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd (PNSB) today gave an assurance that the quality of treated water distributed to Syabas and consumers are safe and fulfils the standards set by the Health Ministry.
PNSB Public Relations Department assistant general manager Raja Rozaila Raja Azman said, as a responsible water plant operator, PNSB was also directed to monitor the presence of heavy metals in the raw and treated water daily starting last Aug 1.
"The weekly monitoring undertaken by PNSB throughout June and last month revealed that the quality of treated water, including heavy metals in Rantau Panjang and Sungai Selangor Phase 2 (SSP2) water treatment plant, had generally met the requirements of the Health Ministry national drinking water quality standard.
"PNSB informed that it will not compromise on the quality of treated water that is distributed to consumers in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya," it said in a statement today.
He said PNSB, which supervised three dams in Selangor, found that the current dry spell had caused the water level at Sungai Langat dam, Klang Gates dam and Tasik Subang dam to fall since early June.
The water level were expected to drop further due to the current prolonged drought because of the lack of rains in the dam areas. – Bernama
