A ninth-class student suffered serious injuries when the bus belonging to the Adisankara Techno School met with an accident near Gudur in Nellore district here on Tuesday morning. Several other students also received minor injuries.
It is learnt that the driver turned off the engine while negotiating with a blind curve to save on fuel consumption. Suddenly, the bus swerved off the road and overturned, with the driver losing control over the vehicle. The bus cleaner, Sudhakar, had a serious injury on his left hand, while the student, Kadiveti Prasad, a native of Lingasamudram village, sustained serious injuries.
“Sudhakar was immediately rushed to a hospital in Chennai. He would have to undergo surgeries for the severed part of the hand,” said Gudur DSP Chowdeswari. The police registered a case of negligent driving against the driver.
