According to the ranking by IFFHS, Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan is still the top scoring footballer of 2014.

The captain of the Black Stars was adjudged World Top Scorer for the month of June, beating FIFA Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, and has retained his top spot.

With Asamoah Gyan on top followed by Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Karim Benzema and Robin van Persie, no change has occurred in the top 5 for July 2014 except van Persie joining Benzama in 4th place.

 Brazil's Neymar and Colombia's World Cup Top Goalscorer James Rodríguez top the international goalscorers with 8 goals while Ghana's Gyan top the club goalscorers with 10.

32 players scored 6 or more goals. By nationality, they are 10 Africans, 10 South Americans, 6 Europeans, 5 Asians and 1 from Oceania. By club football, 12 players play in Asia, 9 in Europe, 8 in Africa, 2 in Oceania and 1 in CONCACAF.

No players come from CONCACAF area though 1 player (Enner Valencia) plays in Mexican club FC Pachuca. Similarly, tough there are 10 South American players in the list, none of them is based in South American clubs.

Only 41 matches took place in July; 28 full internationals (including 10 in FIFA 2014) and 13 in continental club competitions (9 in Africa and 4 in South America).
