Vikramaditya Motwane: Not yet finalised the lead for Bhavesh Joshi
Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane has proven that he is a filmmaker with a difference. Both his films Udaan and Lootera have been critically acclaimed with the former winning several awards. In Kanpur recently to direct a song for the National Award winning documentary, Powerless-Katiyabaaz, Motwane revealed his plans for the future.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is an institution
Vikram initially wanted to be an engineer, and his entry into filmdom was quite by chance.
“My mother, Dipa De Motwane used to work as a production manager. Once she asked my friends and me to help her with a show called Teen Talk and when I started work with her, I realized that this was what I actually wanted to do,” said Vikram, adding, “Later, I was lucky to get an opportunity to assist filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali while he was making Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas. Sanjay is an institution in himself and assisting him turned was a learning experience for me. After that Udaan happened and luckily, the audience liked it very much.”

This time I am going to surprise the audience
Vikram has also written the script for Dev. D and he says both Devdas and Dev D turned out to be a huge learning experience for him, specially since both the films had a similar story line. “Devdas was a great challenge ’coz we were working on a huge scale and this really turned out to be a learning experience. Dev D was yet again a big challenge because the story of the film was the same as the story of Devdas, but the treatment had to be a modern one,” he says.

Lots on his plate
Apart from directing the song for Katiyabaaz, there’s a lot that Vikram is doing professionally. Ask him what he is upto and he lets off a long list of his assignments. “There are films like NH10, Bombay Velvet, Ugly and Bhavesh Joshi that are keeping me busy these days. The audience has seen me giving them films like Udaan and Lootera and this time I am going to surprise them with an action film. My next film Bhavesh Joshi will have a superhero angle to it,” says he with a smile. Recently, it was reported that actress Sonakshi Sinha was being considered for Bhavesh Joshi but Vikramaditya completely denies it saying, “No, we have not yet finalised a female lead for the film and we are still searching for one. As of now, Sonakshi is not doing Bhavesh Joshi.”
