STEELS, JAZZ STILL GROUND CLAIMERS IN DUPS SNBL

MANZINI – Saturday was a long, fantastic day of pulsating basketball action as the curtain fell on the Dups Direct Insurance SNBL first round games.


From close games to unfathomable outcomes of all the four games that had been rated as a must-see, playing in the evening to save the best for last, it was a captivating evening for basketball fanatics.


The Elite Men’s League (EML) powerhouses Bosco Stills and Mbabane Jazz continued to prove their dominance, winning their respective games against Manzini Superstars and Mbabane Knicks.


Steels beat Superstars 76-35 to stay top of the log and also win the Manzini derby, while Jazz’s 80-43 victory saw them keep the points level with Steels but remain second, with claiming the bragging rights around Mbabane being a bonus.


There were also two entertaining Men’s Promotional League (MPL) clashes involving Nkambeni Scavengers, Luyengo Stoke City, Mhlume Cats and Luyengo Pacers.


Scavengers narrowly lost 46-48 to slide further down the packing order while Stoke City cemented third position, while Pacers beat second placed Cats to stay top and remain the only unbeaten team in the MPL.
