EPF enforcement officer nabbed taking Rs 25,000 bribe

The area enforcement officer of Employees Provident Fund (EPF) in Vapi was nabbed by Anti-Corruption Bureau officials while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 in the parking of his office on Monday.

SURAT: The area enforcement officer of Employees Provident Fund (EPF) in Vapi was nabbed by Anti-Corruption Bureau officials while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 in the parking of his office on Monday. The accused had demanded and accepted the bribe for not taking legal action against a security agency owner for violations of the Employees' Provident Funds And Miscellaneous Provisions Act.
Officers of ACB Valsad arrested Mukesh Nathwani when he accepted the bribe of Rs 25,000 from complainant Chandrabali Raghunath Yadav, a resident of Dungra village near Vapi. Police recovered the bribe money from the accused and had also video recorded the incident.
Nathwani found out during an inspection that Yadav, who runs a security agency, had failed to deposit provident fund of his employees. Yadav requested him not to frame a case against him for which Nathwani demanded bribe and allegedly threatened to get him arrested if money was not paid.
