HAFIZABAD
Aslam Bhatti, Minhajul Quran tehsil president, was shot dead near Jalalpur-Vanike Chowk last night over an old enmity.
According to police source, the deceased was on way to his village Kot Muhabbat from Jalalpur Bhattian and when he reached near Vanike Chowk five of his rivals allegedly opened indiscriminate firing on him consequently he died on-the-spot. His body has been shifted to the morgue for autopsy.
The police have registered a case against Mazhar, Faisal, Shagufta Bibi and two unidentified accused. There was an old enmity between the accused and the deceased and he was an eye-witness in a murder case. The accused after committing the offence manage their good escape. DPO Muhammad Zubair Drashak has constituted special teams to arrest the accused.
Meanwhile, Tehrik-e-Minhajul Quran at its emergent meeting held here under the chairmanship of Malik Shafique-ur-Rehman strongly condemned the murder and called upon the police to arrest the accused promptly otherwise the workers of PAT and Tehrik would be constrained to stage protest demonstrations.
DEATH: Al-Haj Mian Abdul Aziz, a contractor, died here after brief illness. He was father former chairman of Press Club Zaheer Akbar Mirza. The funeral was attended by a large number of citizens including lawyers, religious and political workers and journalists.
