Transport helpdesk in GB Nagar

NOIDA: The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) in Gautam Budh Nagar has set up a help desk to provide information regarding driving licence, commercial vehicle tax and registration of new vehicles. Around 1,000 people visit the ARTO office every day and the help desk will ease the workload at the department, officials said.
“We have published pamphlets with details regarding the facilities provided at the transport department and how to use them.Officials at the help desk will hand them over to the people visiting the office,” said Rachna Yaduvanshi, ARTO.
She further said that the help desk was set up two days after the state transport commissioner visited the office and noticed a huge rush of people seeking information. Later, he directed the officials to set up a help desk to facilitate communication. Officials said that no additional staff have been employed for the purpose, hence the office will engage its clerks in a rotational shift.
The transport department had earlier said online facility for registration of vehicles, tax payment and booking of fancy numbers but a large number of people continue to visit the office. Every month the Gautam Budh Nagar transport office collects revenue of around Rs 15-18 crore.
