Sports News New boy: Thomas Partey welcomed at Almera
AUG 3, 2014 LISTEN

Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey has had a swift transition in a very short space of time. After agreeing a loan move from Atlético Madrid for the 2014-2015 season in La Liga, he met up with his new team-mates, boarded a plane in the Spanish capital and jetted off to Thailand with them.

Speaking with the official Almería website, Thomas admitted that everything has happened so quickly for him, but he's already been made to feel welcome by his new team-mates.

'They've received me well. Everything has happened so swiftly. I signed on Saturday, then on Sunday I was travelling with everyone to Thailand. There's a good group of people here and what's more, I know some of the guys I played with at Mallorca.'

Thomas is also confident he's made the right move, both in terms of his own progress and that it can be a good season for his new club, promising plenty of effort from himself.

'I'm convinced that everything is going to turn out well, but for Almería and myself. In every team there's a level of suffering, you have to work hard and give everything you've got. That's what I came here for, to sweat in this shirt and with a good attitude, I think there's a lot we can do. I want to enjoy myself at Almería.'

Mainly a defensive midfielder, Thomas also highlighted his strengths and what he hopes to offer Almería this season.

'What I like most is getting control of the ball, getting in close and pressuring opponents a lot, because that's the only way to win possession.'
