Young painters felicitated

Young painters, who painted away to glory focusing on Mother Earth and the perils faced by her during last month's 'Paint your Planet' initiative of The Times of India, held in association with Guwahati Municipal Corporation and Assam State Disaster Management Authority, were awarded on Saturday.

GUWAHATI: Young painters, who painted away to glory focusing on Mother Earth and the perils faced by her during last month's 'Paint your Planet' initiative of The Times of India, held in association with Guwahati Municipal Corporation and Assam State Disaster Management Authority, were awarded on Saturday.
The competition had five categories, each having a different theme: 'Draw as You Like', 'Keep Guwahati Clean', Garbage Cleaning' and 'Handling Natural Disaster', among others.
The categories comprised participants between four to six years of age, six to nine, nine to 12, 12 to 15 and 15 to 18 years.
Gaurab Rajbongshi, Geetal Nath, and Yasir Imdad Rehman bagged the first, second and third prize, respectively, in category one, called 'Draw As You Like'. In the second category, Drup Kalita, Rajnandini Kalita and Deepam Patowary were adjudged first, second and third, respectively. In category three, Subhangee Sinha, Raj Mukherjee and Tribedi Tanaya Das were adjudged first, second and third, respectively. In category four, Nilay Bhagabati, Shristi Bordoloi, and Manab Sen Gupta obtained the first, second and third positions, respectively. In category five, Nepram Khelsana Singh, Shivam Patowary and Priya Kar were adjudged first, second and third, respectively.
Three painters in each category were given special prizes for creating awareness about the environment. The initiative was supported by Ramdhenu, 92.7 Big FM, Hotel Gateway Grandeur, Fundaaz and Leo Advertising.
