Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri recount their journey to stardom

Bollywood stalwarts Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri will be seen recounting their journey to stardom in tonight’s episode of The AnupamKher Show — KucchBhi Ho SaktaHai, which will air tonight at 8 pm on Colors.

Naseer’s tryst with theatre began in Class IX, when he acted in Shakespeare’s famous play, The Merchant Of Venice. Later, he joined the National School of Drama — a phase he calls the happiest in his life.Along with a stipend of `200, NSD also earned him the friendship of Om, a classmate whom he has known since 1970.
Om entered the world of entertainment when he was offered `150 to act in a play. He says, “If Naseeruddin didn’t push me at NSD, I wouldn’t be sitting here on the couch today.” In fact, when Om received a National Award for his role in Ardh Satya, Naseer openly admitted that he would never have been able to pull it off. He elaborated, “Om was born with a wooden spoon. I’m proud to see him here today.”
