Car Sales in July : Positive Streak Continues!

Post two consecutive years of decline in car sales, due to various reasons such as high inflation and interest rates, the prospects of an economic recovery under the recently-formed government managed a push in the June quarter. Car manufacturers in India posted the third consecutive month of growth in demand, with eight leading car makers cumulatively retailed 1,83,176 units in the month, as compared to 1,64,572 units in the corresponding month previous year.

Maruti Celerio

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. :

Maruti Suzuki, country's leading car manufacturer registered a growth of 19.9 percent, at 90,093 sold units in the domestic market last month. While the sales of its small cars Alto and WagonR declined by 14.4 percent to 28,759 units, demand for its premium models improved. Sales of Swift, Ritz and Celerio gave the biggest boost, which grew by hefty 81.2 percent to 25,156 units. Its DZire continued its growth story with 22.2 percent rise to 18,634 units. Maruti's utility vehicles including Ertiga and Grand Vitara grew by 23.4 percent to 5,631 units, whereas its utility vans Eeco and Omni by 54.8 percent to 11,680 units.

Additionally, Maruti Suzuki recorded 21 percent profit in this year's first quarter. MSI sold 2,70,643 units during this quarter, an up by 10 percent compared to 2,45,346 units in the similar period last year. To know more, click here

Hyundai

Hyundai Motor India Ltd.:

India's second largest car maker Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), registered a domestic sales growth of good 12 percent in July this year. The manufacturer sold a total of 48,010 units in the month, in comparison to 48,704 same time last year. The domestic sales stood at 29,260 units, up against 25,965 cars previous year, while 18,750 units were exported as compared to 22,739 units during the previous July. To know more, click here

Toyota

Toyota Kirloskar Motor :

Toyota registered 4 percent rise in the domestic market sales at 11,921 units in July 2014, as compared to 11,515 units in the corresponding month last year. During the period, company retailed 13,847 units, up against 14,470 units in July 2013. Additionally, the company exported 1,926 units of Etios series last month. To know more, click here

Ford

Ford India :

Indian arm of American car maker Ford registered 24 percent growth June 2014. During the month, the manufacturer retailed 15,282 vehicles in combined domestic wholesales and exports, as compared to 12,338 vehicles sold in the corresponding month previous year. The exports grew to 7,690 units from 4,471 vehicles same time a year ago, while the domestic sales witnessed a marginal fall at 7,592 units, up against 7,867 units sold in July 2013. Honda City

Honda Cars India :

The Japanese auto major recorded 40 percent rise in the month of July, clocking 15,709 units compared to 11,223 units last year same period. While the exports stood at 858 units during the month. The City continues on its wining spree with 7,705 units sold last month, Amaze dived to 4,507 while just 58 and 78 units of CR-V and Brio were sold. To know more, click here

Nissan Sunny

Nissan India:

Nissan witnessed a growth of whopping 138 percent in the month of July by retailing 2,013 vehicles. As last year for the same period, the automaker sold 1,226 units. In the first seven months, the manufacturer delivered 17,597 units as compared to 7,494 units in the previous. The FY sales also witnessed a growth of 135 per cent. To know more, click here
