AAP mulling over entering PU politics; Panag in town to decide organisation and structure of party

“You cannot clean up politics from outside. The criminalisation of student politics is a general symptom of state politics as there are certain things that the mainstream parties cannot be seen as doing. The party is mulling over the idea of getting involved in the elections,” said Panag. She is in town to oversee structural building of AAP at the grass-root level.

A party insider said that they had been approached by many PU students, demanding the creation of a student wing.

Asked about the party’s stand on the cancellation of Dharamraj.com, Panag said, “Politically or otherwise, it is but natural to support the freedom of expression. Even individually, I am deeply concerned that some extra-constitutional elements can cause censorship in our lives.”

Asked whether she’ll go to Punjab for campaigning in the assembly by-elections, Panag said, “Right now my focus is Chandigarh. For the next three weeks, we’ll be working on the internal mechanism of the party so that from a movement, AAP becomes a structured party. We’ll choosing 10 competent workers in each booth so that the foundation of the party at the grass-root level is strengthened. All this is part of the Mission Vistaar. Personally, I want that our Chandigarh unit should be the first in the country to meet the objectives of the mission.”

Panag said that being a national executive member of the party, she has to continuously work at the macro and the micro level and stay both in New Delhi and Chandigarh.

Later in the evening, Panag visited yhe family of Dimple, a helper at the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital in Sector 16, who was shot dead by her husband Anand Kumar, a police constable, recently.
