NASHIK: Fear of landslides has now set alarm bells ringing for 46 villages in the district’s western parts. The district administration on Friday sought an environment stability check of these parts.
After a landslide struck Malin village in Pune district on Wednesday morning, the district administration summoned local taluka officials to step up their machinery and vigilance to identify villages that could be hit by landslides.
The administration also asked tahsildars to come up with the list of such villages.
“In the absence of specific criteria, officials drew a list of villages where small sections of roads were washed away or if trees have fallen. The list also includes villages that are located precariously on steep slopes,” a tehsildar said.
While not villages are on landslide alert, there is reason enough for them to stay cautious, said an official. Relevant investigations will be carried out to ascertain the same.
