New Army Chief General Dalbir Singh on Friday said the Army’s response to any act of aggression by Pakistan in future, like the beheading of an Indian soldier along the LoC in January 2013, will be “intense and immediate”.
“Our response to any such act will be more than adequate in future and it will be intense and immediate,” he said, sending a stern message to the neighbouring country on the day he assumed charge as the 26th Chief of Army Staff.
This came a day after his predecessor General Bikram Singh, on his last day in office, said a befitting reply has been given to Pakistan for the beheading incident.
General Dalbir Singh said the “man behind the gun” will remain his top priority. “My endeavour would be to ensure that the man behind the gun is motivated, comfortable and provided with the latest weapons,” he said, while listing operational preparedness, effectiveness and force modernisation among his priorities.
