Now, Silk Smitha biopic in Marathi

Now, Silk Smitha biopic in Marathi
After Bollywood’s The Dirty Picture, Sandalwood’s Silk Sakkath Hot and Mollywood’s Climax, the Marathi film industry is all set to have their own version of a film based on the life of Silk Smitha, the Tamil actress known for her erotic image.
The film is the debut directorial venture of Sameer Khan, who has worked as an associate director for Hindi movies such as Page 3 and Traffic Signal.
Speaking about the film, Sameer said, “Unlike the Hindi and other language films, which are either inspired or loosely based on Smitha’s life, my movie will present the precise picture of her life. I have also recently procured an NOC from her family for it.”
Elaborating further, Sameer added, “I want to highlight Smitha’s career struggle and the dark side of the film industry in this biopic. But most importantly, we want to bring forth Smitha’s positive side that not many are aware of. It is wrong that people have a negative image of her and that is what we want to change.”
Considering it is a bold subject, the makers plan to tone down the film and make necessary changes. Faisal Saif, who has penned the script, said, “The sequences where skin show is required will be toned down but this film will undoubtedly be the boldest film ever made in Marathi. When you talk about Silk Smitha, skin show is obvious. We feel that people have become more receptive to such things now.”
Speaking on who might bag the role of Silk Smitha, Faisal said, “We plan to rope in one of the controversial Marathi actresses to portray Smitha’s role.” The movie is expected to go on floors some time in September-October.
