Rahul should resign, says Punjab Cong leader Brar

Brar added that this would rejuvenate Congress workers and potential leaders in their respective states.

Senior Punjab Congress leader Jagmeet Singh Brar Friday demanded the resignation of AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi and advisors of party president Sonia Gandhi, urging them to accept moral responsibility for the party’s rout in the Lok Sabha elections.

In a statement issued here, Brar demanded that Rahul resign with immediate effect and added that this would rejuvenate Congress workers and potential leaders in their respective states. He also called for the A K Antony Committee report to be discussed threadbare so that “constructive remedies” are found to improve the party. “To discuss the party’s worst-ever drubbing in its 130-year history, a Chintar Shivir should be held,” he added.

Brar, a former Congress working committee member, also called upon the leadership to reconsider the notice issued to Haryana Rajya Sabha MP Birender Singh for hobnobbing with the BJP. “The notice should be reconsidered keeping in view his 42-year contribution to the party,” the senior Congress leader said.
