John Goodman has reportedly joined the cast of "Trumbo," the biopic of the screenwriter, Dalton Trumbo, who was blacklisted from Hollywood after refusing to testify before the House of Un-American Activities Committee.

Trumbo will be played by Bryan Cranston, while Helen Mirren plays gossip reporter Hedda Hopper. Goodman is said to be in line to play producer Frank King.

Trumbo was sent to prison in 1950 after his refusal to testify, but continued to write scripts under a pseudonym. He won an Oscar for the King-produced film "The Brave One."

Jay Roach ("Game Change") directs the script from John McNamara and the pair are producing with Michael London and Janice Williams of Groundswell Productions.

Goodman will next be seen in "The Gambler," alongside Mark Wahlberg.
