The Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Bhadrachalam, has chalked out an ambitious plan to plant a total of 1.28 lakh saplings in 190 tribal welfare educational institutions in Bhadrachalam Agency.

The initiative is part of Harita Haram, the green drive launched by the Telangana government to increase green cover in the entire State.

ITDA Project Officer D. Divya planted saplings on the premises of ITDA headquarters in Bhadrachalam on Thursday formally launching the Harita Haram programme in the Agency.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Divya exhorted the ITDA employees to adopt a sapling each to contribute their mite to espouse the cause of environment protection.

Emphasising the need for proper maintenance of the saplings, she urged the engineering wing and other branches of the ITDA to give special attention to the protection of saplings.

A plan is on the anvil to plant a total of 1,28,000 saplings in 190 tribal welfare educational institutions including ashram schools, hostels and colleges in the Agency, she said, underlining the need for making the staff and students active partners in the green drive.

Meanwhile, Ms. Divya inspected the temple kitchen adjacent to Chitrakuta Mandapam and Nitya Annadana Sathram abutting Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple complex in Bhadrachalam in the afternoon.
