Rs 13 lakh stolen from 'daivasthana' in 35 seconds

MANGALORE: A contractor’s private daivasthana at Permude in Bajpe police station limits was burgled on Friday and valuables worth Rs 13 lakh was stolen.
The daivastana belonged to Yadav Kotian, an SEZ contractor. Two theives, wearing rain coats had entered the daivasthana premises at 1.30am and in 35 seconds they had decamped with 12 sovereigns of gold, seven kilograms of silver and two masks weighing 25 kgs and also with two diamonds which were placed as eyes of the Annappa Swamy daiva.
Sources said the thieves had pre-planned the whole operation going by the swiftness with which the burglary was planned. The masks though weighed 25 kgs were swiftly transferred across the wall with deftness indicating the thieves were strong and experts in this type of act.
Police said though two were seen on the CCTV camera installed on the premises there may be more outside, plus vehicle used for the operation.
Bajpe police are investigating the case.
