BRITISH COLUMBIA – The British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office (BC EAO) has advised owner Seabridge Gold that its application for an environmental assessment certificate for the KSM gold-copper project has received final approval from the appropriate ministries. The ministers have concluding that the project is not likely to result in significant adverse effects.
Seabridge Gold chairman and CEO Rudi Fronk said acknowledged the hard work of Seabridge personnel and the professsionalism of the BC EAO. "I would also like to thank the Nisga'a Nation, First Nations and local communities who participated in this process, for their expressions of encouragement and support as well as for their thoughtful input which has helped us improve our project design. We are confident that KSM will also be approved at the federal level within the next several months."
In 2012 the KSM resources were estimated at 2.78 million measured and indicated tonnes grading 0.55 g/t Au and 0.21% Cu, plus recoverable silver and molybdenum. The inferred resource totaled 1.13 million tonnes at 0.41 g/t Au and 0.17% Cu. Since that time, drilling at the Deep Kerr deposit has added 515 million inferred tonnes grading 0.36 g/t Au and 0.53% Cu to the resources.
