Was 70-year-old killed for her property?
Mapusa: Any breakthroughs in the investigation into the murder of a senior citizen in Anjuna will have to wait for a day, as police were told on Thursday to record the statement of the only other person in the house only on Friday.
While Luiza Fernandes, 70, was found dead and bleeding from the mouth on Wednesday afternoon, her sister-in-law Prashila Fernandes, 55, who lives with her, was found unconscious in another room.

Undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, Prashila is currently not in a state to give a statement, police were told by GMC doctors. They expect her to be in better shape on Friday.
Friday will also see Luiza undergo a postmortem. Police are hoping both these developments will throw light on what exactly happened to the two women.
While a syringe was found in the house, based at Bamanwado, and police suspect its contents were used to kill Luiza, they have ruled out the motive of theft for now as Luiza was found with her gold jewellery intact and the house had not been ransacked.
Sources said police are looking at the motive of property-grab, as Luiza was the owner of a huge bit of property in Anjuna and has no heir.
The incident came to light when Luiza's cousin tried to reach her telephonically on Wednesday, and failed. The cousin then visited the house and found Luiza dead and Prashila unconscious.
"We are investigating all angles. The postmortem report and the deceased's sister-in-law's statement will throw more light on the case," said Anjuna PI Paresh Naik.
Further investigations are under way.
