Grenade attack in Pakistan theatre screening Sallu’s film
Two persons were injured in a grenade attack at a theatre in Karachi’s MA Jinnah Road during the screening of the Salman Khan-starrer Kick. The show had packed in a full house.

Police are investigating the motive behind the attack. “Two men came on a motorcycle and threw the hand grenade at the entrance of Capri cinema and fled the scene. Two persons were injured,” said senior police official Imran Shaukat.

All single screen cinema halls, multiplexes and cineplexes are doing brisk business due to the Eid holidays. In the past, militants have attacked cinemas in other parts of Pakistan.

The Sajid Nadiadwala-directed Kick was the only Bollywood film to be released on Eid in Pakistan other than Hollywood films Hercules, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and the 3D animation flick, Planes: Fire and Rescue. Pakistan's most-expensive film ever - Sultanat, was also playing at the theatres.

A few years ago, protest rallies against an anti-Islam film turned violent and protesters tried to burn down two other cinema halls on Jinnah Road. - Agencies
