Music maestro Pankaj Udhas announced the dates of the next edition of Khazana, a popular Ghazal festival which will be held at The Oberoi, Mumbai on August 1 and 2. The concept of the event was Udhas, Talat Aziz and Bhupinder Singh’s brainchild and has been successfully held in collaboration with Cancer Patients Aid Association, Parents Association Thalassemic Unit Trust and The Oberoi group since more than a decade. This year, the festival will be celebrating 100 years of Indian Cinema. Commenting on the festival, Udhas stated, “The introduction of Ghazals in cinema by K.L Saigal, way back in the 40s, was a landmark moment for fans of the genre. Since then, several film-makers have felt the need of incorporating a ghazal or nazm in their films. The genre helped convey many beautiful emotions in Indian cinema. So today, we thought it would be appropriate to celebrate the centenary year of Indian cinema’s existence and dedicate the 13th edition of the festival to Ghazals used in Bollywood films.” Apart from the usual participating artists like Udhas, Bhupinder and Mitali Singh and Talat Aziz, the festival will also have Sonu Nigam, Suresh Wadkar, Shruti Pathak among others paying a tribute to the ghazals used in Bollywood films.
Interestingly, this will be the first edition of Khazana that shall be live-streamed across all the digital platforms of Hungama (including YouTube, mobile application, Udhas’ official Facebook page and Daily Motion India). Previously, fans across the globe could only get access to audio streaming, but now, they can watch the festival online and even send their personal song requests via Facebook and Twitter.
