One man has died and another is under police investigation after an early morning crash on Vancouver's Granville Street Bridge.
Just before 4 a.m. on Thursday, a man driving a white Mercedes rear-ended a Honda in the southbound lanes of the bridge, said police. The driver of the Honda, and the only person inside it, died at the scene.
UPDATE August 1: The BC Coroners Service has identified the victim as Vancouver's Khader Emile-George Yasmineh, 62.
"Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the collision," said a police news release.
"Evidence at the scene indicates that someone may have witnessed the accident, but unfortunately did not stay to speak with police."
Any witnesses are asked to contact the collision investigation unit of the Vancouver police.
The southbound lanes of the Granville Bridge were shut down during the morning rush and re-opened around noon on Thursday.
