Restaurant Review: Häagen-Dazs (Dessert)
Haagen-Dazs had modest yet noticeable beginnings in New York. Back then, it had three flavours: chocolate, vanilla and coffee. Then, the brand was sold to The Pillsbury Company, following which new tastes and textures were added, enhancing the offering, without compromising on quality.
Décor
Large curved counters dominate, only in a much fancier way.
They display all the colourful treats including cups and cones in different shapes and sizes. Cozy seating, dark wood and glass with pictures of bold, inviting twirls of edible indulgences reflect on the walls.
Food
I was filled with memories of fondue and my taste buds demanded an encore. But I refused to give in to craving. I ordered the popular Belgian Waffle Dream. Calories? Who’s counting? It was quite large and if you are having it as a meal replacement, you could do it justice. The butterscotch sauce drenched waffle, whipped cream together, and with a scoop each of dulce de leche, pralines blended together beautifully.
Imported from France, Haagen-Dazs ice creams have natural flavours and are stored at the best possible temperature for them to retain their smoothness and avoid crystalisation. Their pastries and cakes come from Mumbai, and their brownies are reputed to be legendary. After a cup of tea, I decided to sample the mango and raspberry sorbet. Their signature dishes are all sheer edible art.

Pluses and minuses
There’s just too much sweet temptation and nothing savoury. I’m not over the moon about their cakes and pastries.
