July 31, 2014 10:54 pm | Updated 10:54 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Students should develop an interest in science right at the school level to become scientists, District Collector N Yuvaraj said.

Speaking at the inauguration of the three-day district-level INSPIRE Science Exhibition organised at the SFS School here on Thursday, the Collector said students lost their interest in science and innovation due to the limitations set by the education system. There was an innovator in each child and this temperament has should be nurtured to help him or her become a scientist, he added.

Most successful persons, including many IAS and IPS officers, studied in Government schools, the Collector said and added that Government schools continued to have relevance.

He urged philanthropists to donate liberally to provide infrastructure and amenities in Government schools.

Students from Government and ZP schools across the district participated and put up their models on different topics at the exhibition.

The exhibition is on till Saturday.

MLC Gade Srinivasulu Naidu, Zilla Parishat chairperson Lalam Bhavani, MLAs Vishnukumar Raju, Giddi Eshwari, Vangapudi Anita, and District Education Officer Krishna Reddy were present on the occasion.
