BANGALORE: Under the IIMB Policy Hackathon, the Centre for Public Policy, will be hosting two parallel hacking events centered on generating insights and tools for policy and governance on August 9, 2014.
The IIMB Policy Hack is a team event focusing on developing data based policy responses to existing policy challenges in society. Participants are given access to a large dataset (e.g.
Census, NSSO, etc.) with information on multiple domains of social policy in India. Each team chooses a policy domain and works on developing a 5 page document that identifies a key policy challenge and data based solutions to it within a 24 hour period. The data set will be announced on the morning of August 9 and the team with the best use of data (visualization and analysis) to support ideas for policy problems will be the winner.
The IIM-B App for Governance is a new and parallel event where the focus is on developing internet/mobile/app based tools that seek to answer a broad governance challenge in society.
