Abhijit was advised against casting Pushkar Shrotri

Filmmaker Abhijit Panse was advised against casting Pushkar Shrotri for the role of encounter specialist Sachin Vaze in his directorial debut ���Rege���.
Abhijit revealed, ���A lot of people told me that Pushkar���s image as a comedy actor is very strong so I shouldn���t think about him for this role. But I have seen Pushkar perform on stage since our college days. We were in different colleges but I have seen a lot of his performances in one act plays during college days.I had full faith in him as an actor therefore against everybody���s advice I cast him and the response I am getting is simply unbelievable. Even those who had advised against this are now appreciating. A lot of people remember Pushkar���s act after the film is completed.���

Aware about how Abhijit stood by his decision, Pushkar said, ���He cast me despite several people advising him against it. I am glad that I didn���t let him down. I am sure that this film will break my image as a comedy actor. I have done different kind of roles even in the past but got noticed only for comedy acts. However with ���Rege��� I am confident that people will start accepting me in serious roles as well.���

Against all the anticipation Pushkar���s performance was well remembered and appreciated by the audiences at various film festivals where the film was screened. Recently actress Amruta Khanvilkar too said, ���I feel like appreciating Pushkar Shrotri for his act in ���Rege���. He has done a wonderful job.��� Actor Aroh Welankar who plays the title role debuts with this film and actors Mahesh Manjrekar, Santosh Juvekar and others also play important roles in the film.
