Highlights include Southend's 0-0 draw with QPR

Southend manager Phil Brown was happy with his team's energy levels following their 0-0 pre-season draw against QPR.

The former Hull City boss also said he believes the fans would have been impressed with the performance at Roots Hall on Wednesday night, which was the Blues' final warm-up match before the League One season kicks off on August 9. "It was important we worked hard without the ball and we certainly did that, but I was also more than impressed with what we did on the ball at times against QPR," Brown told the official club website. "I'm delighted with the energy and fitness levels of the players at this stage and I'm sure the fans will be impressed too."
