Neelakanta talks about Maaya
After his not-so-successful foray with ChammakChallo, director Neelakanta is back with his new movie Maaya. Ask him about his soon-to-release movie and he says, Maaya is based on extra-sensory perception (ESP) or the sixth sense. The lead character of the film gets visions of the future events that are set to happen with her. It is thriller with a strong romantic angle.
Neelakanta, who has created his own niche with films like Show, Missamma and Virodhi is all set to change gears and dabble with the offbeat genre of ESP.
Quiz him about where the idea come from and the director says, I have seen many Hollywood films in the same genre and wanted to try my hand at it. It is something different and we hope that the audience would like it too.
Harshvardhan Rane is cast opposite three leading ladies Avantika Mishra, Sushma Raj and Nandini Rai in the movie. Harsh plays a fashion designer and has multiple shades to his character. I felt he fit the bill very well. The leading ladies portray different kinds of characters in the film and thus have a lot of scope to perform, the director reveals.
The early buzz about the film has come as a bit of a surprise for the National Award-winning director and recalling what everyone has said so far, he asserts, I have been told that I am back with a bang (laughs). Whosoever has seen the film so far has loved it. I have been receiving good reports from the industry. Looks like experimenting with a new genre is working well for me.Maaya, jointly produced by Shirdi Sai Combines and Madhura Sreedhar Reddy production, is releasing on August 1.
