Evernote continues to be one of the top note-taking applications on the market, even though Microsoft is spending a fortune to bring more users to OneNote, so updates are playing a critical role in this virtual fight on the software market.

A new version of Evernote was officially rolled out today, so users who are already running it right now should check for updates as soon as possible.

Basically, Evernote 5.5 comes with improvements for sync performance and app responsiveness, while also implementing a number of enhancements for the way it handles password-protected PDF documents. Last but not least, it also comes with a horizontal shortcuts bar and brings various other bug fixes that should make the app run smoother on Windows.

Evernote is at this point an application that offers support for all Windows versions on the market, including the old XP which was officially retired earlier this year. In fact, Evernote is an application that’s already available on a big number of platforms, including iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Android, Windows Phone, and Blackberry.

All in all, this new update should be installed by everyone running the app right now, so just download Evernote 5.5 for Windows to make sure that bugs are fixes and the latest improvements are there on your computer as well.
