Three women were killed, three others went missing and another man seriously injured when a cloudburst flattened their houses at Netad in Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand in the wee hours of Thursday, 31 July.

The deceased have been identified as Lajja Devi, Mangla Devi and Rajjo and their bodies have been taken out from the rubble. Search is on for the three persons who found missing after the incident, NDTV reported by quoting the District Magistrate Yugal Kishore Pant.

The seriously injured man has been pulled out from the wreckage of the flattened houses and whisked him away for treatment. The cloud burst flattened two houses, burrying the deceased in their sleep, Pant said.

The cloudburst hit the village in Ruis canal area at about 2.30 am on Thursday. Few other houses have also been damaged partially in the natural calamity, the authorities said.

Disaster management forces, police personnel, medical service personnel and other resuce teams have been rushed to the calamity venue, the authorities stated.
