Ten years after actor Rudranil Ghosh was charged with rape, cheating and going back on his promise to marry by his then alleged live-in partner and a fellow actor, a lower court on Wednesday announced that he was free of all charges.

The news comes as a relief for Mr. Ghosh, whose popularity since then has shot up in the Bengali film fraternity and is also an office-holder in the Mamata Banerjee-led State government. Mr. Ghosh is the president of the West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education and Training (WBSCVE&T).
