JAMMU, July 30: To express anger and resentment against the recent acts of sacrilege in Basohli and Batote, series of protests were held across Jammu province on Wednesday, wherein BJP activists raised slogans against the NC-Congress Coalition Government and also burnt its effigies.
Led by Jammu district BJP President, Rajesh Gupta, party activists took out a protest march from Party Headquarters, which passed through main bazaars of city and culminated at Parade. They were carrying placards and party flags and raised slogans against the Omar Abdullah led State Government.
Rajesh Gupta, while condemning these acts, held the State Government totally responsible adding that not taking the past acts of sacrilege seriously and adopting soft approach towards such criminals has only encouraged such elements to repeat it, which directly hurt the sentiments of Hindu community. It is dangerous for the unity among the society and will create communal hatred if stern action under law is not taken, said Rajesh Gupta and warned the State Government of more aggressive protests if it fails to punish the culprits.
Meanwhile, a large number of BJP activists under the leadership of BJP Panchayati Raj Cell State Convenor Baldev Singh Billawaria held massive protest and burnt the effigy of State Government for its total failure in checking the acts of sacrileges.
At Janipur, BJYM activists under the leadership of Mandal President Rinku Chauhan held protest against the State Government demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.
Chander Mohan Gupta, Yudhvir Sethi, Munish Sharma, Govind Sarin, Baldev Singh, Vinay Gupta, Vikram Randhawa, Karan Singh, Jaideep Sharma, Surinder Mahajan, Sunil Dogra, Gulshan Mahajan, Tarsem Lal Choudhary, Kuldeep Kandhari, Sat Pal Choudhary, Arun Khosla, Ramesh Sharma, Daleep Gupta, Pardeep Sharma, Arun Sethi, Vikash Jain, Ludermani Sharma, Ajay Vaid, Subash Gupta, Surjeet Singh, Vidya Devi, Vivek Kumar, Satish Sharma, Rahul Sharma, Lovekesh Gondi, Kanav Parotra, Rahul Bagga, Chetan Mehra, and others were prominent among those who took part in these protests.
J& K Bar Association in its meeting held under the chairmanship of its president M K Bhardwaj has strongly condemned the acts of sacrilege in some parts of Jammu region. The Association appealed the Government to arrest the culprits immediately so that peace and harmony is maintained in the area.
J&K Gao Raksha Samiti in an emergency meeting held under the chairmanship of Dr S K Sharma its president has strongly condemned the two sacrilegious acts in Basohli and Patnitop areas of the region.
The Samiti appealed the Government to take stern action against the culprits for maintaining national unity, integrity and communal harmony.
