From burlesque to... maternity wear? Dita Von Teese designs a sexy line of lingerie for new mothers

Burlesque performer Dita Von Teese may not have children of her own - but that hasn't stopped her from designing a limited edition line of lingerie for new mothers.

The 41-year-old star, who was once married to Marilyn Manson, has teamed up with online retailer Destination Maternity to put out the capsule collection as part of her existing line of underpinnings, Von Follies by Dita Von Teese,

The post-pregnancy wear includes five lacy nursing bras and three pairs of belly-cinching underwear - all costing between only $30 and $49.

“Elegant underpinnings are a simple way to create everyday moments of luxury and beauty, and why wouldn’t a new mother enjoy beautiful lingerie, too?” Ms Von Teese said in a press release.

“The collection I created with Destination Maternity is designed to capture the spirit of retro glamour, while inspiring confidence and meeting the practical requirements and everyday needs of a new mother.”

All of the bras open at the front for easy nursing - while the matching underwear all have a 'postpartum shaper,' for discretely holding in post-baby bellies.

The dancer, who is perhaps best known for her burlesque performances involving a giant martini glass, launched Von Follies in February 2012.

It is inspired by Ms Von Teese's 'longtime love of lingerie and her own personal collection of vintage lingerie' according to Facebook. Common materials include grosgrain, velvet ribbons, lace and control mesh for a 'sultry 1950s pinup girl' look.

Before Von Follies, she also designed a range of lingerie for Wonderbra in 2009.

Ms Von Teese is indisputably the biggest name in burlesque performance - and credited with bringing the art form back into popularity.

She was born in Rochester, Michigan, the middle of three girls, and initially started her career as a go-go dancer at raves in the early 1990s.
