MUMBAI: A new bus service for cancer patients and their relatives will run from Dadar railway station to Tata Memorial Hospital in Parel from Friday. With a frequency of 15 minutes, the service will be among six new routes launches by BEST from next month.
BEST will cancel three routes because of “poor” response. These are AS-7, an AC bus from Backbay to Sion; JVPD-2, a bus from Andheri station to JVPD; and 127 from Babulnath to Mazgaon.
The new routes are 182 from Sion to Malad depot, with the first bus at 7.20am and last at 11.10pm; 217 from Dadar station east side to Tata Memorial Hospital in Parel, with first bus at 7am and last at 8.40pm; 331 from airport T2 to Ghatkopar station every 15 minutes; 458 Ltd from Malad depot to Marathon chowk in Thane every 25 minutes; 633 from Borivli station east side to Vaishali Nagar every 20 minutes; and 661, a circular bus route from Mumbai Central to Mahalaxmi and Worli Naka, with first bus at 6am and last at 9.30pm.

BEST on Wednesday also announced that it would extend eight routes on public demand, merge one, divert four others and change the destination on two routes.
“We are already plying AC buses from T2 to Borivli, Thane and Navi Mumbai till late at night,” an official said.
