Bandh Update: Majority of schools to suspend classes on Thursday

Though the Education Department insisted that there will be no holiday for schools, a majority of the schools have decided to suspend classes on Thursday in view of Bangalore bandh called by pro-Kannada groups.

Many school associations told Bangalore Mirror on Wednesday afternoon that they did not want to risk the safety of students during the bandh and hence declaring holdiays, "Many of the CBSE, ICSE and State board schools will be closing shop on Thursday. Schools always have a right to take a call on declaring holiday and hence we are going ahead with it despite the education department not giving an official holiday," said a school principal.

The parents have been suggested to get in touch with the schools by Wednesday evening as it is the individual school's discretion to remain shut or not.

The BMTC will continue with its operations if there are no untoward incidents, sources said.
