Real Betis hope to have Juanfran's future resolved before they travel to England later this week.

Middlesbrough have been trying to sign the full-back for weeks, but they have failed to persuade him to make the move to The Riverside.

Boro are even understood to have made a new offer to the player in the last week, but Juanfran, who joined Betis from Real Madrid last summer, rejected that too.

Italian side Palermo have also seen an offer snubbed, and the player has been training on his own while his future was being resolved.

Betis are due to play Sunderland next week, and they were set to insist on him travelling to England with them this week.

"He would do well to knuckle down so that the coach can count on him because it might be that he does not end up leaving," warned Betis president Manuel Dominguez Plata.

Betis have grown increasingly annoyed that Juanfran, who has made it clear he does not want to play in the Segunda Liga following their relegation, has rejected offers put to him so far.

However, it is understood Serie A club Hellas Verona are now close to striking a deal for the 25-year-old.
