Cork City have confirmed the signing of Ross Gaynor after his departure from Sligo Rovers yesterday.

Gaynor moves to Cork after spending the last couple of seasons with Sligo Rovers, where he made almost 100 appearances and won a league title, FAI Cup and Setanta Sports Cup.

He said: “John Caulfield gave me a call yesterday and everything moved very quickly. I am delighted to be here and I am looking forward to the game on Friday. Hopefully I can just work hard and get into the team.

“It is a tough-working team and there are some really quality players. It is going to be a joy to be a part of this team, pushing for a league and the cup as well. Turner’s Cross is probably my favourite stadium in the league, so it will be great to play there regularly.”

City manager John Caulfield said he was pleased to have signed Gaynor: “We are delighted to have Ross on board. He has played left back for Sligo for the last couple of seasons and he can also play left wing. He brings a lot of experience and gives us some balance on the left hand side.”

Caulfield also confirmed that Iarfhlaith Davoren and Jason Forde have left the club.
