INDORE: Miffed over the death of 70-year-old female patient who succumbed due to alleged medical negligence, the family members created ruckus at Gurjar Hospital on Tuesday.
The patient Imarti Bai, a resident of Sukhla Nagar was admitted to the hospital located in Bhanwarkuan area after she complained of chest pain on Monday late night.
The hospital administration asked for Rs 15,000 as advance payment but the family members of the patient could only arrange for Rs 5,000.
However, the patient was admitted to ICU ward for further treatment.
Few hours later, the hospital administration asked for the remaining payment. Meanwhile, Imarti Bai's health started deteriorating and eventually she died. When the authorities informed family members about patient's death, they entered into a scuffle with the hospital staff.
The agitated family members of the deceased could be pacified only after the intervention of Bhanwarkuan police. Police took affidavit from the family members of the deceased and started investigations.
The hospital administration handed over the dead body to the family and did not charge any further expenses for treatment. Hospital manager Rajkumar Lobhanse said, "We started treatment soon after the patient was admitted and gave time to the family members to deposit Rs 10,000 more as the patient was in ICU due to cardiac problem. The condition of the patient was critical and eventually she died which triggered outburst of the family. There was no negligence on the part of our doctors."
